2012 MLB Draft Profile: Mitch Brown

Name: Mitch Brown
Position: RHP
School: Rochester Century (High School)
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 215

Stat Summary: W-L (7-1), ERA 0.91, 108 SO, 2.0 SO/Inning

Accolades: Minnesota Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year, Rated the 44th-best prospect in the nation by Baseball America (16th-best right handed pitcher)

The Rundown: Brown has improved his draft stock significantly in the last year by showing he can consistently hit in the low-90's with his fastball. He has been clocked as high as 95 mph with his heater. His repertoire also includes a cutter in the high-80s to help keep batters on their toes. His deception on the mound has improved since the beginning of the year and that has only improved his draft stock.

Twins Impact: It would be a big stretch for the Twins to take him with the number two pick. But if he is still on the board, he won't get past the Twins pick in the sandwich-round (No. 32 or No. 42). It is always a good story to add players with local connections to an organization (Joe Mauer, Glen Perkins, etc.)

The Word on the Street: One scout said Brown is the best high school pitcher he has seen in 30 years
